Tell me about yourself.

I see my stat counter going up, and I'd love to know more about some of my readers. So, comment here and tell me a little about yourself... how'd you find me? Are you a fellow MoM? Where are you from, and what do you like reading about here? =)

We are off the bottles!

Finally..... cue the hallelujah chorus! =)

When the babies went down for their naps on Saturday, I washed every bottle in the house, dried them and all their parts, and packed them up for their new baby cousin, Adelaide. When they woke up, they got a sippie of milk. After a few minutes of sip-sip-sip-toss, they realized the cups were the only thing they were getting. They have always taken juice from sippies with no problem, but refused to take milk out of anything other than a bottle. I'm so happy I'll never have to wash another Dr. Brown's bottle again!

It's been soooo nice having them on 100% table food lately - when we go out to eat, I only have to pack an occasional snack instead of multiple jars of stage 3 foods. Jeffry had a huge oral aversion to anything textured, so up until the last month or so, they were eating out of jars three meals a day. We went out to eat with my mom and stepdad to a relative's BBQ restaurant, where the kids had their first "chicken suckers".

The babies also had their pics run in our local Baton Rouge Baby magazine! I had entered their pictures in the "cover baby" contest, but when they didn't win, forgot about it. I didn't realize they were in the issue until their daycare worker showed me her copy that she had posted on the bulletin board. She had drawn a heart around each of their pictures. =)

A new milestone I was hoping we wouldn't reach.

I knew that with the kids being the same age we would eventually have trouble with them fighting over toys/food/anything-one-has-that-the-other-doesn't... so I always make it a point to be totally impartial. If one has two cookies, the other gets two cookies. If one has a yellow sippy, the other gets a yellow sippy, and so on. Toys have always been bought in identical pairs, because God forbid that Sadie should get a Little People Barn and Jeffry would have to settle for the Little People School Bus. The horror!

Anyways, we started a few months ago buying pink/blue items... booster chairs for the dining room table, training potties, etc. After a few days, Sadie definitely knew that pink meant hers and blue meant Jeffry's. If he climbed in her seat in the dining room, she would holler and pull on his shorts until he climbed down. And I had to make two baby doll swaddles out of old hospital blankets, because when I made one for Sadie, Jeffry snatched it from her and caused a ten-minute meltdown over it. Sadie has been into purses lately, and putting noonoos/hairbows/Little People into them and toting it around the house. Of course, Jeffry had to have one, which means that my two Dooney & Bourkes are getting some use after almost two years of being passed over for Kalencom diaper bags.

Along with all of this, they have learned the word "MINE!" So, I shouldn't have been surprised when I picked them up from daycare today and Jeffry was in time-out.

I was hoping we wouldn't get to this point until at least kindergarten.

After naptime, another kid was playing with a toy that Jeffry had been carrying around all morning. He saw the little boy with it, hollered "MINE!" over and over again, and tried to take it from him. When the other boy didn't give in, Jeffry hit him, so he was sent to time-out.

We've noticed that he's been "swatting" at things when he is upset, and knew it would just be a matter of time before he really waylayed anyone or anything. We've tried redirecting, telling him "that hurts!" and "share!" is becoming the most frequent word in our language now. And even though my kid was the one lashing out, it still hurts to hear him screaming over it like it's the end of the world, because he just doesn't understand and doesn't have the words to tell us how he's feeling.

No nap + outlet shopping + 97 degrees outside = insanity.

Remind me to never take my kids outlet shopping on a holiday ever again.

The sales were awesome, but the heat and the fussiness were enough to drive this momma batty! The only thing keeping them entertained were snacks, and cheez-it hands grabbing for Coach purses were not a good combination (but their 50% off clearance + additional 30% off that day was enough to lure me in).

Jeffry got his first hat from Lids, and got his name monogrammed on the back:

The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful - weather was beautiful the day before, so we boiled crawfish at my SIL's and the babies burned off some steam running around the backyard. They were exhausted on the way home and we had a rare occurance - they slept through the night!

A long overdue haircut!

Before:

At a dr's appt earlier in the week

During:

Miss Heather is the only person hubs will let touch his hair, so that's who the kiddos see. Well, only Jeffry, since I botched Sadie's bangs with an at-home trim. We're growing hers out right now.

He sits still the entire time. Amazing.

After:

Every time he gets a haircut I'm reminded I don't have babies anymore. =(

Some Recent Pics

First attempt at grocery shopping in the cute car buggy - fail. They were content for about five minutes, then Sadie snuck out and bolted down the canned goods aisle. So now we're back to Jeffry riding in the buggy and Sadie in the backpack.

This is the normal stroller pose - Sadie hanging all limbs out and trying to get anything remotely in her reach, and Jeffry kicking the tray.

Eating Rice Krispy Treats at the annual church fair in 93 degree heat.

Easter Sunday. Don't they look angelic?

Don't believe it. I had to rescue Sadie from the pits of hell (aka the church nursery) and brought her into the sanctuary wailing like a fire engine.

The above scene was five minutes before she rummaged around in the diaper bag and ran down the center aisle up to the pulpit with a tampon in her hand.

Easter egg hunging, and attempting to share a basket, since I forgot the second one at the house.

Meet Jeffry.

Jeffry is the first born, and the firecracker. This boy is full of explosive energy, and goes nonstop from the minute he wakes up until he goes to sleep. He's very social, and waves to strangers as we're in the aisles of Target. He will blow kisses to everyone, and talks up a storm.
